Stellar BASS is associated with the BASS Federation series. The organization holds several tournaments each year in Wisconsin and Minnesota. These tournaments are open to all anglers over the age of 16. The format includes both Boater and Non-boater anglers. Each angler is entitled to four hours in the front of the boat for the eight hour tournaments. The tournaments are bass tournaments, with a five fish limit, a live weigh in follows the fishing period utilizing calibrated electronic scales. Weights are totaled for each tournament and the top 25% of the anglers for the year, both boaters and non-boaters qualify for the Federation Championship held in September.

There are two membership levels, the first has a cost of $50.00 per year, which entitles a member to fish all tournaments and attend the year end banquet. The second membership has a cost of $100.00 per year, which entitles a member to fish all tournaments, qualify to fish in the Federation Championship, and if qualifies to move on to fish in the National Championship and ultimately the BassMaster Classic. Attendance at the annual banquet is also included. The only additional requirement is that the angler be a member of BASS, which typically costs around $20 per year. Stellar usually has openings for Boaters, and Non-boaters are based upon the total number of boaters registered.
